Dial 1 - Advocacy and Public Policy

We are offering an opportunity to Maryland's city and town managers to join the MML Executive Committee and senior management team for a Lunch and Learn, on October 10 at noon, to hear about an engagement initiative with the League to represent Municipal managers across the state and network with over 115+ manager colleagues. 

The Maryland Municipal League City and Town Administrators Department was created in 1978 as an affiliate of the League, designed to focus on specific municipal matters that may impact a city manager’s duties and responsibilities; and serves to help municipal managers stay tapped into League-wide resources that may benefit their municipality.

Since their formation in 2023, our caucus groups have been meeting to discuss how race, culture and identity intersect with their roles as municipal officials. Designed to ensure that all voices have a place at the table, the groups are open to any MML member.

Interested individuals should plan to attend the convening of the caucuses on Sunday, June 23 the first day of the MML summer conference.

Lunch and Learn Registration

There's still time to encourage your local fourth grade classes to take part in the League's oldest and most popular ambassador program. Our "If I Were Mayor" essay contest has successfully educated 55,000+ Maryland students on the role of the Mayor and how local government works. Help students from your community participate in this fun civics exercise, by encouraging them to submit an essay.

There's still time to register to join your municipal colleagues from across the state on February 29^th for MML's inaugural Advocacy Day.

Your municipal league is always at work.  We and the National League of Cities (NLC) are glad to announce that through a special affiliate membership agreement, all MML members under 20,000 in population are now eligible to be NLC affiliate members with no additional cost to your municipality. 

Municipalities with affiliate status are joining NLC as the organization celebrates 100 years of accomplishments on behalf of local governments. Learn all about affiliate status and how this new benefit will extend MML's resources and your municipality's reach on Wednesday, January 24 at noon during a joint MML/NLC webinar.

Our fall event draws our most engaged and forward-thinking leaders, looking for information that can arm them for the upcoming legislative session.
